The dynamic screen is placed two metres (6.6ft) away from the building and programmed to respond to the Sun's movement in order to reduce glare and improve daylight penetration. As the Sun moves, the entire mashrabiya moves with it to provide shading. The design has resulted in a 40% saving in carbon emissions, according to Arup.
