Imovane
Australia is a short-acting sedative-hypnotic
medicine, and contains the active ingredient zopiclone. Zopiclone belongs to a
new chemical class, molecularly distinct from benzodiazepines, but it has
similar effects on the brain and central nervous system.
The most common side effects of
zopiclone are sleepiness and dizziness, which can be mild or severe. These may
occur at any time during treatment, so it is important you tell your doctor if
they become severe or bothersome.
Other side effects include nausea,
vomiting and sweating. These may happen when you take a large dose of Imovane
or when you stop taking it suddenly. It is very important that you do not miss
a dose, because this can make your symptoms worse.
You should not take Imovane if you
have ever had a serious allergic reaction to any other medication. You should
also not take Imovane if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
If you have a history of alcohol or drug dependency, you may have an increased risk of becoming dependent on this medicine.
Do not drink alcohol or take other medicines that make you drowsy (such as antihistamines) while you are taking Imovane, as they can be made worse by the effects of Imovane.

zopiclone tablets is only for use as prescribed by
your doctor, and should not be used for longer than 7-14 days at a time.
Continuous long term use is not recommended, as this can lead to withdrawal
symptoms.
