TV journalist Scott Bryan, co-host of BBC 5 Live's Must Watch podcast, points to a rise in "individual" viewing too. "Ten years ago, it was much more likely that people would watch TV as a family. That is still true for some shows, but I think now we're much more used to watching shows on individual screens," he says. "This means that there is less of a tradition in terms of parents watching a soap with their kids and passing that on to them."
