Mahomes completed 67.2% of his pa ses for 3,528 yards with 27 touchdowns to just five interceptions for a 104.7 rating -- a stretch which the Chiefs went 11-1. He threw 20 touchdown pa s to just four interceptions over a nine-game stretch that lasted until the AFC Championship Game. When Mahomes was on, so was the Chiefs' offense. The AFC Championship game was the perfect example of Mahomes not taking what the defense gave him in the second half. Mahomes was nearly unstoppable in the first half of the game, completing 18 of 21 pa ses for 220 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions for a 149.9 pa ser rating. In the second half, he was 8 of 18 for 55 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions for a 12.3 rating.The Bengals played eight defenders in coverage and Mahomes didn't take the underneath route, nor decided to run immediately and draw the defense up to respect his running ability. Mahomes needed to just slow the game down instead of going for the home run. The Panthers defense is also coming off a game where it was on the field for nearly 40 minutes and 72 plays against Cincinnati just a few days ago. For that reason and for insurance against injury that could put an early dent in the team's 2021 plans for a clean slate (read: mulligan) under McCarthy, the Cowboys must consider sitting the bull and allowing the calf to get more feed in what will likely be the final five games of the 2020 season.
