Residents of the UAE are looking forward to the long weekend in connection with the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
The United Arab Emirates has seen a sharp increase in flight searches ahead of the long weekend for the religious holiday of Eid al-Fitr, according to a report from online travel platform Skyscanner.
Compared to 2023, travelers have seen a significant increase in demand for flights to Asia-Pacific countries. At the same time, more and more travelers are planning their trips in advance: 37% of requests are for the summer months, meaning the booking depth is about 90 days.
Booking windows over 90 days account for a third of demand, with a third of travelers booking 30 days in advance. The number of travelers looking to travel to Europe has increased by 4%, with demand also rising in Southeast Asia and declining in North America.
Destinations such as Victoria, Marmagao and Panama City are growing exponentially, while in Europe Bol and Pristina are growing exponentially. Tokyo, Rome and Madrid remain in high demand, with a surge in interest in destinations such as New Delhi and Shanghai.
Experts predict a jump in airfare prices for flights from the United Arab Emirates in April 2024, during the long weekend associated with the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the religious holiday of Eid al-Fitr.
As previously reported by the online travel portal WEGO, the number of bookings for international flights for dates in April increased by 70% compared to the same period last year, but this growth is not final.
Already today, airfare has increased by 23% for flights to the UK and 60% to Germany compared to 2023. At the same time, searches for Eid al-Fitr travel have increased by 400%.
UAE residents are expected to finalize their holiday plans in the coming days. The most popular destinations for UAE residents in March-April 2024 were India, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, as well as the Philippines. Many expats will head home for the holidays.
