1. Check  Snapchat Camera Permissions

When you first install Snapchat, you need to give it permission to use your phone's camera. If it is not compatible, you may experience problems if you don’t have more information like the Snapchat selfie camera or video call camera not working and showing a black screen. Therefore, check the application permissions again.

Open Settings on your iPhone, then scroll down and tap Snapchat.

Then enable microphone and camera permissions.

Now you have to stop and restart Snapchat to check if you can take photos.

2. Restart  iPhone

It may be that your iOS has some small bugs, that's why the camera module is not working. You can fix this by restarting your iPhone. If you don't know how to do this, see How to restart your iPhone or iPad (all models).

3. Clearing Snapchat Cache and Lens Data

The Snapchat camera app keeps a cached version of every lens you upload. So next time you don't need to download it. If the Snapchat app can't load these saved lenses, you may see a blank screen. That's why I recommend deleting your current Snapchat Lens data.

Open the Snapchat app and tap the profile icon in the top left corner.

Now open the settings by tapping the gear symbol in the top right corner.

Navigate down and select Lenses.

Tap Delete local lens data and confirm your choice by clicking Delete.

Please exit and relaunch the app to see if the camera issue is resolved. If that doesn't work, you may need to delete all saved data. In addition to lens data, Snapchat stores memories, stickers, stories, and other information. These cache files can sometimes cause errors and fail to load properly, resulting in an application crash.

Likewise, go to the Snapchat settings page.

Scroll down and select Clear cache. Finally, click Explain. This will restart the new application.

4. Update iOS

Outdated iOS can affect your user experience, so updating your iPhone will solve most problems. The software is improved and works better with other installed applications. If you haven't installed iOS 16 yet, here's how to update your iPhone to iOS 16. I recommend enabling the automatic updates feature so you don't miss new updates.

5. Contact Snapchat Support

If none of the above methods worked for you, as a last step, contact Snapchat and report your problem.

Go to the Snapchat settings page.

Now scroll down to find My Data and tap on it.

Then select Community and click Support.

This will open the Snapchat support page. Select Contact and follow the instructions.

Finally, enter your username and email address and describe your problem.

The Snapchat team will contact you to resolve the issue. It could also be that there is a problem with your iPhone's camera. In this case, contact Apple Support for help with your Apple device.
