The Shield of Arrav quest, which is a free-to-play quest in Runescape, is unique. It's unique in that it is actually impossible to do it by yourself. It requires a second person performing the quest to finish. The quest is required to finish a number of quests, including Hero's Quest for access to the hero's guild, and in turn, Throne of Miscellania. With a friend as well as this guide you can complete the Shield of Arrav Quest in under an hour.
Steps
Reldo at Varrock Palace library can be reached by calling him and telling him that you are looking for a quest.
He will ask you to find the book called "The Shield of Arrav". Go to the bookcase that has a distinct blue book in it, to find the book. Go through the book to get to know more about the Phoenix and Black Arm gangs.
Speak with Reldo for a second time He will then tell you to talk to Baraek in Varrock Center.
Ask Baraek about the Phoenix gang at the fur market stall. He will only give you the information if you give the gang 20gp. Hand over 20gp and he'll inform you of where to find the Phoenix Gang Headquarters.
Continue walking south towards Varrock. There is Charlie the Tramp inside the alleys. Ask him if there's something in that alleyway. There is the Black Arm gang headquarters down there. He'll tell you. Inquire if he'd let you join. He will tell to you to speak to Katrine at the Black Arm headquarters.
The walkthrough will change depending on the gang you are in. You and your friend should have joined various groups. Follow the walkthrough that is titled for the gang you joined. Your friend should follow the walkthrough for the gang they have joined
Black Arm Gang
If you have chosen the Black Arm gang, then proceed down the alleyway near Charlie the Tramp into the house at the end. Inside, speak with Katrine. Inform her that you are aware about this place and that you would rather not reveal the sources. She will inquire about what you'd like to know. Let her know that you'd like to join in with the gang and request her to give it the chance. She will ask to take a couple Phoenix crossbows from the gang that is rival to them.
Get together with your Phoenix Gang friend. They can trade Weapons store keys. Proceed to the building that is marked Weapons Storage on the map. The door will be opened with the key and then climb up the ladder. Take out the Weaponsmaster level 23 and pick up the two Phoenix crossbows.
With two Crossbows, head back to Katrine. Talk to her, and hand her the crossbows. Now you are an official member of the Black Arm Gang.
Take the northern entrance to the headquarters. After that, you'll take the stairs to the second floor. Unlock the cupboard and search to find half of the broken shield.
In this moment, both you and your companion will follow the same procedure and so you must proceed to Wrap up.
Phoenix Gang:
If you've chosen to join the Phoenix group, then head south of the Varrock East Bank to an ! mark signifying a dungeon. It is possible to enter the room and climb the ladder.
You will now be in an dark dungeon. Talk to Straven and then select "I know who I am!" After the conversation, Straven will ask you what you'd like and offer your services. He will inform you that in order to show loyalty to the Phoenix gang you will need to take down Jonny the beard. He will also return the intelligence report he holds on his desk.
The Blue Moon Inn bar near Varrock Marketplace. Inside you'll discover Jonny the beard (level 2) moving around, pick to attack him. When he's dead, pick up the Intel report that he drops. This report can be taken back to Straven
Talk to Straven for a second time at the Phoenix Gang headquarters and give Straven the Intel Report. Now you are an official member of the Phoenix Gang. You will be given a Weapon Store key that will allow access to the depot for weapons.
You will need to go through the door to Straven and walk all up to the rear of the room. You will end up in a room with the chest. Open and search walk through the chest to locate the shield that was broken in half.
Get out of the headquarters and meet your Black Arm Gang friend. Give them the Weapons store key and have them defeat the Weaponsmaster level 23. Tell them to get two Phoenix crossbows, which drop.
Your friend and you will now follow the same steps. Please continue to Wrap up.
Wrap-Up:
After you've got half of the shield, team up again and walk to the King Roald at the Varrock Palace. You will be told by him that the Curator at the museum must verify your identity. Take a walk towards the Varrock Museum.
Utilize the half of the broken shield on Curator Haig Halen. The Curator will look over the shield's half and award you with two half-reward certificates. Your friend must also speak with the Curator, as they will also get two half certificates for their half of the shield.
You can trade with your friend, and each one must present two certificates you've received.
To complete your certificate to complete the certificate, you must combine the two pieces. For your reward, return to King Roald
