The athletes themselves speak out about their ratings at times in order to increase discussion. Durant was one of them earlier this week, and so did an old teammate of Klay Thompson NBA 2K23 MT. Both did not seem happy with their latest scores to not the least.It's my personal belief that game designers do this to manipulate the game. They give out scores that are controversial enough to get people talking, but without damaging the integrity of the game. Through this, they stimulate discussion about their newest game, hoping that more people buy it.

Likely, some of their ratings for players seemed odd, and perhaps in a way that was disrespectful.
