On the World of Warcraft forums, community manager Kaivax detailed the changes coming when the Scourge Invasion unlocks on December 3rd at 2pm PST/5pm EST . Citing the fact that players 14 years later have simply become more knowledgeable (as well as the number of endgame players on each realm), the team is making several changes to the event as a result.
For those who weren't around in 2006, Kaivax details exactly how the event went down during its initial launch in World of Warcraft. However, to ensure that the event isn't rushed through and completed quickly on each realm, the team has tweaked how the event as a whole works. As of now, when the event opens up in WoW Classic, the number of zones needed to complete each stage has been increased, as well as the total duration for the bonus dungeon bosses, vendors and quest givers from three to four weeks. This means it will end on December 31st. Additionally, an extra week has been added to the event, beginning only when 300 zones have been defended on each realm.
