Spurs slipped to a fourth league defeat in their last five games as the positivity from their dramatic 3-2 win at Manchester City was quickly erased by a lackluster showing at Turf Moor.

But the performance at Burnley was poor enough to trigger post-game comments from the Spurs manager that were left open to interpretation about his future at the helm.

Spurs registered just two shots on target against Sean Dyche's relegation battlers, their joint lowest figure in 90 minutes in 2022, and Conte was irritated at their inability to break Burnley down.

"It was difficult tonight, and it's not only tonight, in the last five games, we have lost four", Conte told reporters at full time.

His annual salary is reported to be around $13 million, but his latest remarks and the growing discontent may ensure he does not finish out the contract.

Conte has developed a reputation for short stints in charge, and his stays have sometimes ended with falling-outs, with his time at Juventus the only role in which he lasted beyond two seasons.

He could be in line for his shortest tenure since a 14-game spell at Atalanta in 2009-10, if the rhetoric and bad results continue.
