For annual sports games, it’s always difficult to bring something really new to fans every year. But when a developer focuses on what player indeed not what it thinks it needs, this can often lead to a positive result. Thankfully, it looks like Madden 22 is doing just that. While this year’s big new innovation comes in the form of “Momentum,” which we’ll get into more detail below, EA’s latest entry into its Gridiron games could deliver the franchise mode that Madden fans are screaming for.
Franchise staff
Franchise staff allows you to build, grow and customize your coaching staff with an RPG talent tree system. There will be more than 60 talents to choose from at launch to fit your play style, with plans to release more with live services.
Improved Franchise Hub
The Franchise Hub has been revamped to make the most important franchise information more accessible to you. This includes a focus on an activities list for what you need to do each week, your goals for the week, an updated news screen with details from around the league, faster access to roster management, and a league tab with more detailed information.
New Season Engine
EA Sports found a way to maintain things fresh all season long, as we will experience interviews, Q&A’s and player interactions every single week.
As the season advances this will get more challenging while also offering better rewards.
This will allow players to earn XP faster and use the weekly boosts to pave the way to the ultimate goal: lifting the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season.
Feel free to check out the video narrated by Madden´s Senior Design Director Connor Dougan where he gives us a detailed tour of all of the new features.
Scouting in Franchise
One of the most highly-requested features for Franchise was a more robust scouting feature when searching for future star players. Since Scouting is a significant structural overhaul and fundamental piece of the Franchise experience, there will be a Live Service update targeted for September.
Weekly Strategy and Dynamic Gameday Integration
Every week in the NFL season presents new challenges and EA is looking to bring this next level of strategy to Franchise. Next-Gen stats and Dynamic Gameday Integration will provide players with detailed statistics and play call analysis that allows them to study upcoming opponents' strengths/weaknesses, manage their team's fatigue level, and assess first-half performance to make adjustments for the second half.
