Nike fans are well familiar with Jun Takahashi's UNDERCOVER label for
the numerous high-tech running collaborations with NikeLab Gyakusou over
the past couple of years, but the Japanese imprint has had a long love
affair with the

as well. Not only did they transform the Nike Dunk Sky Hi during the
whole ?sneaker wedge' movement a couple years back, but UNDERCOVER has
now added a Huarache-like tooling to the iconic basketball turned skate
model with the upcoming UNDERCOVER Nike Jungle Dunk collaboration slated
to arrive at international retailers on January 18th, 2017.
The

benefits from a premium tumbled leather base in a head-turning Loyal
Blue, additional Dynamic Flywire, a natural motion inspired outsole unit
that's rugged enough to withstand the toughest of winter elements and
new weather resistant tape tooling on the toebox. But perhaps the most
head-turning addition to this boot-inspired Nike Dunk is the heel cage
belonging to Tinker Hatfield's 1991 classic, the Nike Air Huarache. The
back reads ?Balance' in black to match the Swoosh branding while an
aggressive jagged pattern matches the clean white midsole and outsole.
Although the unwavering popularity of the

has helped re-solidify its place in urban culture, it is that very
culture that continues to fuel new, thoughtful designs for the 1985
silhouette. Case in point: the Dunk Low “City Market”—a collage of
eclectic materials and visuals that celebrate the Swoosh’s innovative
heritage and the ever-inspiring cityscape—to be released tomorrow.
The pair’s brightly-colored, mixed-materials uppers are a nod to the
industrial rice and coffee bags repurposed at urban markets.

Some of the graphics on the uppers sneak in references to Blue Ribbon
Sports, which traces back to Nike’s 1967 roots. Furthering the city
market aesthetic, the tag on the tongue mimics a nutrition facts label,
while the tongue itself consists of a textured, translucent zippered
pocket that alludes to reusable grocery totes. These bags are also cited
on one of the insoles via a graphic that reads “Thank You For Caring!”
After a brief stint on the Nike By You customization platform, the
Nike Dunk Men/Women
has emerged in dozens of in-line colorways catering to all style
preferences. Its latest forgoes the understated nature of inaugural
two-tone, collegiate team-inspired arrangements in favor of a
multi-color look exclusive for women. Reminiscent of the infamous eBay
Dunks (or more recently, the “FREE.99” capsule), the forthcoming pair
features a monochromatic leather base overlaid with panels dipped in
varying hues.
